An internationally recognized expert in traumatic stress, he is one of the handful of Filipinos who hold the status of a Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. Mr. Renz headed psychosocial programs for the women, youth, and military in the armed conflict areas in Central Mindanao. In the project Counseling for Peace, Renz coordinated the team that provided trauma healing programs for the youth and indigenous people in Central Mindanao.
A youth leader since he was in high school, Renz has led and been part of several student and youth organizations nationally. Currently, he is a National Adviser of the Youth for Mental Health Coalition, a non-government, non-profit organization that empowered the youth to lobby for the Mental Health Law in the Philippines, which was recently passed by Congress. He also organized several national youth congresses on mental health, as well as an Asian regional conference of psychotherapists.
Renz is a Co-Moderator of the Religions for Peace Asia-Pacific Interfaith Youth Network (RfP-APIYN). Since 2015, he has been involved with Religions for Peace as Youth Coordinator of RfP Philippines. He organized the 2016 Asia Religious Youth Peace Camp and has participated in several APIYN Flagship Projects such as the Our Earth, Our Responsibility Campaign and the Eat, Pray, Love Campaign.
